Have you ever had guests and someone wants to go to the bathroom but you try to divert them? How about not letting anyone to step into the kitchen to help with serving the food? Or do you panic if someone accidentally walks into your bedroom?
Yes, most probably you are not an organised person and you realise it. Imagine how much more enjoyable life would be if you were one of those whose homes were always brilliant, arranged and welcoming, and you could open the door of your home at any time of the day without worrying. Well, it’s not really that hard. You just have to follow some simple rules typical of people with always clean homes.
We exclude the bed making in the morning, which is simply mandatory and we do not need to say how important and essential this is.
When everything has a place to go this is the way to the stacked house. Arrange baskets in the house where you can put the little things and invest in larger ones that have a decorative purpose.
It’s very tempting to put your clothes on the chair after a long day’s work. Takes 2 minutes to fold or hang up, if necessary put them in the laundry basket. You’ll save yourself the mess of piled and dirty clothes around the house.
When you get up in the morning, take the items from the dishwasher to their place. It takes a very short time, so you will prepare for it to be loaded in the evening.
If after dinner all you want is to lie down, forget it. Before you head to the bed, clean the kitchen – wash the dishes or load the dishwasher, wipe the worktops and quickly arrange the place. This will save you smells from remaining food and clean up early in the morning. It is also much more enjoyable to have a cup of coffee in a clean and pleasant scent kitchen.
Whether it’s preparation for your clothes for the next day or dinner outside, organised people have a plan and follow it.
When you open a box, immediately discard/recycle it. If you spill something, wipe it down. The more you postpone, the harder it gets for you.

This is a brilliant guide! Using baskets to organise items is such a simple yet effective way to keep your house organised. Effective storage is often overlooked but if you don’t have effective storage, your possessions will just end up all over the place. Cleaning up the kitchen straight after dinner also makes a huge difference. As you say, it’s best to get rid of those cooking smells asap
Thank you, Francesca, for your comment. We think is essential that we all start with the small things first and then everything else will be easily achieved.
